Camerata Pacifica Chamber Ensemble

7.30pm, Friday 25 April 2008

John Harbison: Piano Quartet
Brahms: Intermezzo, op. 117, No. 1
Ian Wilson: Messenger, Concerto for violin and chamber ensemble
Messenger is the first work composed as part of a 3 work commissioning project with Camerata Pacifica. The music’s imagery is that of a frightened family anticipating, and then fleeing, the NATO bombardment of Belgrade in 1999. Ian Wilson wrote the first movement of the concerto in the days leading up to the bombing, the second movement just after the birth of his son, and the third and fourth after the Wilson family had fled to Northern Ireland.
