Poisson Rouge New York, United States

Simone Dinnerstein, piano; Essie Jain, singer, songwriter

6.30pm, Tuesday 17 June 2008

Simone Dinnerstein shares her favorite selections from Bach’s Goldberg Variations, paired with avant-garde American composer George Crumb’s Eine Kleine Mitternachtmusik (A Little Midnight Music) based on Ruminations on 'Round Midnight by Thelonius Monk, for amplified piano. In keeping with the broad-based, multi-genre musical aesthetic of (Le) Poisson Rouge, singer-songwriter Essie Jain opens the concert. Doors open at 6.30pm.

Poisson Rouge is a new multimedia art cabaret founded by musicians on the site of the historic Village Gate at 158 Bleecker Street (NYC). (Le) Poisson Rouge is scheduled to officially open to the public in September, following major remodeling and acoustic engineering by John Storyk/WSDG.
