| The concerts of the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra take place in the Orangery Schönbrunn, which was built in the years 1754 – 1755. Fascinated by its special architecture, the Habsburger emperor frequently organised festivities with a musical program. At one of these occassions Mozart and Antonio Sallierie both conducted different pieces at the same event in the Orangerie Schönbrunn - a unique competition in music history. The building is the largest baroque Orangerie after Palace Versailles and it is the only still functioning baroque Orangerie in Austria. |
